“Finken brings back some of what I miss from 1966: popular music that isn’t just calculated, forgettable radio fodder that will wear out in a few months. Fairy Tales/Love Affairs has a commercial sheen and pop accessibility without sacrificing substance.” – Kent Williams, Little Village Magazine

HONESTLY, BONNE FINKEN REALLY IS MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORYou’d be surprised who you might meet in Des Moines’ these days. Des Moines, Iowa, that is. Besides Kerouac, Slipknot and Superman, Iowa is seldom recognized for its contributions to pop-culture in comparison to other metro areas like New York or Los Angeles and until recently, not even as a destination. Over the past decade the Midwest, Iowa specifically has been gaining on the country with its own unique style and creative output.
Des Moines’ Bonne Finken is a vocalist who’s ability to cross musical genres makes her indispensable as a front-singer for any band. Comfortable with Alternative Rock, Electronica, Dream Pop and good old Rock and Roll, Ms. Finken can hold her own.
After winning her battle with cancer, Bonne really cut loose and by 2005 she was working all over town building her reputation as a local “gun” for hire. Producers for the CBS reality show “Rock Star: Supernova” invited Ms. Finken to compete for the chance to front a super group that included Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Jason Newsted (Metallica) and Gilby Clarke (Guns ‘N’ Roses).
Being the consummate artist she graciously declined, stating that she preferred to focus on her own material. This speaks volumes about her integrity as an artist. And now, the discipline and devotion to finding her own sound is really paying off.

After releasing her first compilation of original songs in 2008, her popularity rose within the music industry and landed her some fresh gigs with national artists and a spot in Austin’s South by Southwest in 2009. In 2011 the EP “Expectation Fall” was released. This was the break she needed to immerse herself into her music and songwriting full time. Bonne Finken does over 100 performances a year including the Sundance Film Festival and U.S. Cellular’s World Food Prize.
In the production of her latest “album” Fairytales/LoveAffairs (2014), Bonne Finken collaborates with multi-platinum talents: Brandon Darner of Slipknot; The Envy Corps; Imagine Dragons and Michael Krompass of Smash Mouth; Nelly Furtado and Natasha Bedingfield.
2016 finds Bonne back in the studio in Denver with Jon Locker (Fairytales/LoveAffairs) and electropop producers Glenn Sawyer and Rich Veltrop (Pink Rage Against The Machine). Her new single Speak To Me is set to release later this Summer. Stay tuned…
